The Nvidia RTX 5070 and RTX 4070 Ti Super are some of the most popular mid-premium gaming GPUs in the market. While the AMD RX 9070 XT offers solid competition to both cards, it hasn't captured much of Nvidia's 70-class market. Starting from the Ada Lovelace lineup, the 70 and 70 Ti GPUs have diverged significantly, with the $799 4070 Ti Super still being a capable GPU despite the Blackwell launch.
These days, the 4070 Ti Super is selling for much cheaper in the used market, making it about as expensive as the 5070. Let's compare the two GPUs and try to answer which is the better buy in 2025.
The Nvidia RTX 5070 and RTX 4070 Ti Super are some of the fastest gaming GPUs

The RTX 5070 and 4070 Ti Super are quite different in terms of their underlying hardware despite sharing the 70-class moniker. The newer GPU is based on the Blackwell architecture, which focuses on fewer independent components with better packaging. The Ada Lovelace offering is a bit over-engineered, which locks it out of features like DLSS Multi-Frame Generation.
The 5070 is also a step below in terms of hardware configs. While the new 50-series card packs 6,144 CUDA cores with 192 Tensor and 48 RT cores, the 4070 Ti Super is much beefier, bundling 8,448 CUDA cores alongside 264 Tensor and 66 RT cores.
While the last-gen card packs 16 GB of VRAM compared to the 5070's 12 GB, they both pair with similar 672 GB/s memory bandwidth. This is because of the faster GDDR7 standard used in Blackwell.

The 5070 is currently selling for $549, while the 4070 Ti Super is much costlier at $799. The last-gen Ada Lovelace card is still selling for this price, meaning better deals are only available in the used market.
Performance comparison

Here's a side-by-side look at the framerates achieved by either card at 4K resolutions. The CPU used for the tests was the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, one of the most popular chips in the market. We have sourced these numbers from the YouTube channel Testing Games.
In terms of the average FPS, the RTX 5070 is the slower one at 52.6 FPS at 4K. The RTX 4070 Ti Super is about 12% faster, scoring 59.1 FPS. At 1440p, you can expect much better performance, meaning the Ada card doubles up as a decent 4K gaming card.
However, it could also run much costlier based on whether you're buying new or used. However, based on current market prices, the 5070 gets 0.0958 FPS per $, while the 4070 Ti Super does 0.0739 FPS per $. Neither of these is competitive against AMD's cards, which do >0.1 FPS per $. However, the 50-series card is 29% better.
