The problem with most high-performance workstation laptops is that they are thick and heavy, and not really travel-friendly. This is where thin and light laptops come in. However, this segment is riddled with bad configurations that will not provide the kind of performance you may need for your office work.
Finding a good thin and light laptop for office work is not easy, which is why I've prepared a list of laptops for you to see. Below, you will find some of the best thin and light laptops available in the market.
Best thin and light laptops to buy for office work
1) Apple MacBook Air 2025

Price: ₹1,12,900
The Apple MacBook Air is by far one of the best thin and light laptops you can buy in this price range. Despite being so thin and lightweight, there's no compromise with the performance. In fact, it has one of the fastest processors on this list, which is the Apple M4 with a 10-core CPU and GPU.
Also, it has 16GB of unified memory with a 512GB SSD. Therefore, even if you manage to fully saturate 16GB of RAM, the system will use a portion of the SSD as RAM.
It is also extremely thin and lightweight at 11.3mm and 1.24KG. About a decade ago, 11.3mm was the thickness of smartphones, and now an entire laptop fits that measure. The MacBook Air also delivers the highest battery life.
2) Samsung Galaxy Book5

Price: ₹87,990
If you find the Apple MacBook Air a bit too expensive, the Samsung Galaxy Book5 could be the perfect alternative. It costs under Rs 90,000, yet it is decently thin and lightweight at 15.1mm and 1.55KG, especially considering it's a large 15.6-inch laptop.
This laptop is also equipped with Intel Core Ultra 7 255U, which delivers great CPU and GPU performance. In fact, some decent gaming is definitely possible. Its metallic build quality and the body's solid construction make it not only durable, but also quite premium to the touch. It can also go toe-to-toe with the MacBooks in battery life.
3) Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5

Price: ₹73,990
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 delivers most of the things that the Samsung Galaxy Book5 provides and then some more, all while costing much less. For example, this laptop features a stunning 14-inch OLED display, which is not only color accurate but also provides a compelling HDR experience.
It also has a metallic build quality and provides similar durability and premiumness found in the Samsung laptop. The Intel Core Ultra 7 125H inside this laptop is no slouch either. It is an H-class processor that can deliver a lot of performance for all your productivity needs. It will also deliver a decent battery life and should last six-to-eight hours on a single charge with light usage.
4) Acer Swift Neo OLED

Price: ₹60,990
The Acer Swift Neo OLED is one of the most beautifully constructed thin and light laptops in this price range. It costs under Rs 61,000, yet it features a full aluminum body with a dual-tone color scheme that looks absolutely fantastic. It features a compact 14-inch OLED display, which is color-accurate and supports HDR.
Moreover, the Acer Swift Neo OLED is the second-thinnest laptop at 14.9mm and weighs just 1.3KG. It clearly challenges the MacBook Air in this thin and light category, despite costing almost half as much. The performance is also quite good, but it is not quite on the same level, which is more than acceptable for the price it asks for.
5) Samsung Galaxy Book4

Price: ₹50,990
The Samsung Galaxy Book4 is the most affordable thin and light laptop on this list. It costs under Rs 51,000, yet it delivers a full metal body with 15.4mm thickness and weighs just 1.55KG. These features make it an excellent choice for those on a tighter budget.
Such a cheaper price comes with some downsides. For example, the display is just a traditional LCD panel with just 60-70% of sRGB coverage, which is not good for color-grading workloads.
However, it is acceptable for other office workloads, as the Intel Core i5 1335U inside it can handle many tasks. However, this CPU is not close to the performance found in the processors inside other laptops on this list. These two are its major caveats, but other aspects of this thin and light laptop are quite solid.
The MacBook Air is the best choice if you can afford it, but the other options aren't too bad either. The Samsung Galaxy Book5 and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 are two of the best alternatives to the MacBook.
However, the laptop that surprised us the most is the Acer Swift Neo OLED. It features a solid design and great build quality while being quite thin and light. It also delivers a great build performance and battery life. However, if you still find them expensive, then the Samsung Galaxy Book4 is your only option for a decent thin and light laptop.
