Design, build quality, and display

The Realme GT 7T features a plastic build, but it feels solid with little to no flex. The rear panel is available in eco-leather (Racing Yellow) or plastic (IceSense Black and IceSense Blue).

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14 Civi boasts a premium metal and glass/eco-leather sandwich design. Its rear panel also comes in glass and eco-leather options.

The Xiaomi 14 Civi is lighter, thinner, and has a more elegant design, in my opinion. Therefore, it wins in both design and build quality.

When it comes to the display, both phones have great AMOLED panels with similar specifications. However, the Realme GT 7T offers higher outdoor brightness and improved PWM, which reduces flicker.

Performance and gaming

At first glance, the Realme GT 7T seems to have the edge in performance, thanks to its MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Max chipset, which offers higher clock speeds and a better GPU than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 inside the Xiaomi 14 Civi. However, these advantages don’t fully translate into real-world performance.

In real-world benchmarks and everyday usage, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in the Xiaomi 14 Civi delivers slightly better performance, including in gaming. Therefore, it wins again.

Moreover, the Xiaomi 14 Civi has 256GB of fast UFS 4.0 storage in the base model, while the Realme GT 7T starts with slower 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. UFS 4.0 is only available in the higher-priced variants.

Camera performance

The Xiaomi 14 Civi is a clear winner in the camera department. It not only has a better configuration but also delivers higher-quality results. The phone features a 50MP + 50MP + 12MP triple-camera setup, while the Realme GT 7T offers only a 50MP + 8MP dual-camera system.

The Xiaomi 14 Civi’s primary camera produces better detail, contrast, color accuracy, and dynamic range compared to the Realme phone. The difference becomes even more noticeable when comparing their ultrawide cameras.

Moreover, the Xiaomi 14 Civi also has a telephoto lens, which the Realme GT 7T lacks. Therefore, it wins by default here. Zoomed shots are impressive and closely match the quality of the primary camera, at least at optical zoom levels. While higher zoom levels degrade the quality, they are still far better than not having a telephoto option at all.

Battery, charging, and pricing

Battery and charging are where the Realme GT 7T finally shines. Its 7,000mAh battery can last two to three days on a single charge. The phone also supports ultra-fast 120W wired charging, which can fully charge it in under an hour.

The Xiaomi 14 Civi, on the other hand, has a smaller 4,700mAh battery, which can last a full day without issues but cannot match the endurance of the Realme GT 7T. The thinner design of the Xiaomi phone limits its battery capacity.

The Realme GT 7T starts at ₹37,999 on Amazon, while the Xiaomi 14 Civi starts at ₹26,999 on the platform. The latter also has more storage in the base variant.

Which is the better smartphone?

Overall, the Xiaomi 14 Civi is the better smartphone. It has better build quality, design, performance, and camera setup. In fact, its camera performance is much better compared to other phones in the same price bracket. Speaking of pricing, it is also more affordable.

The only things that are better in the Realme GT 7T are the battery and charging. Therefore, I recommend the Xiaomi 14 Civi over the Realme phone.
