The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is the company's latest move to bridge the gap between foldables, smartphones, and tablets. As the name suggests, the TriFold opens three times instead of the conventional two of the Z Fold and Z Flip to open up a 10-inch display besides a dedicated smartphone form-factor 6.5-inch display. While this isn't the first triple-screen phone in the market, it clearly is a more mature launch given Samsung's experience making tablets and foldables.

In this article, we will list the details unveiled by Samsung and speculate about the pricing and launch date in the western markets.

Under the hood, the Z TriFold bundles a Snapdragon Elite for Galaxy chipset, which is plenty powerful and contemporary for late 2025 but isn't the latest Gen 5 Elite that certain flagships are already shipping with. The cover display is 6.5-inches, and is nearly identical to the one seen on the Z Fold 7, filled with Gorrila Glass Victus protection, a 2600-nit brightness, and a 1080p resolution.

The main display is 10-inches, with a resolution of 2160 x 1584. However, its only 1600 nits bright, doesn't come with any dedicated gorilla glass protection (only bundling with a soft proprietary protective film), and folds out in a U-like pattern. This means the phone can only be used in a single display or triple display format unlike the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate.

In terms of the memory and storage, you get 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of storage. That can be extended to 1 TB in the top model. Unlike the Z Fold7, which is offered in a 12GB version, 16 GB has been made a standard to accomodate the extra multitasking features shipped with the TriFold.

That said, the camera setup remains identical to the Z Fold, with a 200 MP main sensor and much weaker 10 and 12 MP auxililary sensors.

Other than the hardware innovations, the Z TriFold ships with a bunch of new software features as well. For instance, this is the first phone to support full DeX without an external display. Triple-app multitasking across the full 10-inch display, with freely resizable windows is also a thing now, alongside the regular suit of Galaxy AI and seamless Gemini multimodal assist implementation.

Despite the massive display, Samsung is shipping the phone with a 5,600 mAh cell. However, given how thin the phone is (at just 3.9 mm), the cell is divided among the three panels. In terms of charging, you get 45W wired charging with a brick included in the box and 15W wireless.

What will be the price of the Galaxy Z TriFold?

The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is going to be one of the most expensive smartphones in the market. While we don't have an official price in USD, converting the KRW 3,590,400 Korean price can give us an estimate: $2,500.

Overall, the latest TriFold is an interesting device, given how smoothly it bridges a tablet and a traditional smartphone. However, while it's quite polished for a first-generation offering, it's still got a set of problems, including a delicate main display and visible creases that could stand out in most use cases.
